Organum - Bath mixed voice choir

Organum is a choir of around fifty people which was established in
1996 by local organist, Colin Hunt.
It performs up to three programmes a year and contributes to a number
of local charities and church development schemes through its concerts.

Our friendly, mixed-voice choir is directed by the young and talented conductor, Francis Faux and we welcome new members of all ages
in all parts. There are no formal auditions, all that is required is a
passion for choral music. Rehearsals are held in St Mary's Catholic Church, Julian Road on Tuesday evenings at 7.30 p.m.

The Great Learning - Paragraph 7 (Organum)
A section of Paragraph 7 of Cornelius Cardew's work, The Great Learning. Performed by Organum as part of the Bath International Music Festival 2011 and conducted by Francis Faux.
Organum take part in
The Great Learning
at the Bath Festival

Heralded by The Guardian as one of the 'best classical music events of Spring 2011', the choir performed Paragraph 7 of Cardew's experimental masterpiece in The Friends Meeting House in the city centre.
Critic Andrew Clements described
the occasion as having 'a rather special musical personality' and audience members were transfixed by the constantly shifting harmonic soundscape.

Batheaston hosts popular candlelit
carol concert
Peter Lloyd Williams, music critic for the Bath Chronicle,
was most impressed with our recent Advent candlelit concert
which was performed to a packed Batheaston church:

"The choir is developing well under conductor Francis Faux's lively direction.
They produced a good full sound, and some very attractive pianissimo
singing too – always the test of a choir's confidence..."
